Langley Blaze Capture BC Qualifier Championship, Earn Berth to Morneau Cup National Championship

The Langley Blaze are heading back to the national stage.

On Sunday afternoon, the Blaze captured the 2026 BC Qualifier Championship, earning a berth to the prestigious Morneau Cup National Championship, scheduled for July 14-19 in Alberta.

The road to the title was anything but easy as the Blaze battled through a talented field of some of British Columbia's top programs before delivering an emphatic championship performance.

Langley opened the tournament with an 8-6 victory over the White Rock Tritons before shutting out the UBC 5-0 Thunder in their second game. The Blaze then faced adversity, suffering back-to-back walk-off losses, falling 4-3 to the Victoria Eagles and then 7-6 to the Abbotsford Cardinals.

The Blaze then caught fire offensively in a must-win matchup against the Mid Island Pirates, earning a convincing 13-2 victory to secure their place in the playoff round.

The semifinal saw a rematch with the Victoria Eagles. This time, the Blaze left no doubt, combining strong pitching and timely hitting for a 5-1 victory to punch their ticket to the championship game.

Awaiting them in the final was the Abbotsford Cardinals, another team that had defeated Langley during round-robin play. Once again, the Blaze showcased their ability to rise to the occasion.

In their most complete performance of the tournament, Langley dominated the championship game from start to finish, shutting out Abbotsford 9-0 to claim the BC Qualifier title.
